Compared to most medical treatments, few interventions can initiate relief and healing from back pain, as is the case with chiropractic adjustments The European Spine Journal published results of a clinical study that showed how chiropractic adjustments could lead to a success rate of 72 percent in treating sciatica symptoms. Among people looking for alternatives to relieve back pain, most choose chiropractic treatment. About 22 million Americans visit chiropractors annually.
Of these, 7.7 million, or 35%, seek relief from back pain for a variety of reasons, including accidents, sports injuries and muscle strains. Other complaints include pain in the neck, arms and legs, and headaches. So what’s the chiropractic success rate? Of the people who received chiropractic treatment in the last year, about 77% described it as “very effective.” Chiropractic care was shown to outperform deep tissue massage, prescription medication, yoga, and meditation in treating neck and back pain.
Through extensive research, chiropractic statistics largely report that chiropractic is an effective treatment. RAND researchers found that chiropractic care for outpatient treatment per episode of back pain is significantly more expensive on average than visiting a general practitioner. However, it is important to recognize the limitations of this study and remember that side effects of treatment were more common in patients who received chiropractic treatment. Chiropractic and spine adjustments are effective for realigning the body, reducing pressure and stress from the spine and nerves, and returning the body to its proper position.
It is ridiculous that doctors do not recommend chiropractic treatment and scare people with cases of inappropriate diagnoses, stroke histories, etc. Although no serious side effects were reported, around 10% of chiropractors reported side effects (primarily stiffness in the joints or muscles). Another big advantage of chiropractic care is that it’s often much cheaper than other forms of pain management, i.e. whether you’ve injured yourself moving furniture or a car accident, worsened an old sports injury again, or got headaches and neck pain — chiropractic care will likely to be a very beneficial treatment option for you.
Prior to 1990, very little was known about chiropractic care in terms of use, cost, effectiveness, or quality parameters used to evaluate mainstream medical practices. Rigorous, randomized, controlled trials are key to understanding the role chiropractic plays in healthcare. Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders and the impact of these disorders on overall health. He played a key role in RAND’s pioneering chiropractic research, which stimulated a national reassessment of this and other nontraditional health approaches.
I recently added chiropractic care, as in the last 3 weeks, and my pain has finally almost completely disappeared. It is interesting that with such an analytical analysis, one factor is not even taken into account, and this is how chiropractic care is provided. Her 1992 report was a turning point that prompted a national review of chiropractic and other forms of alternative healthcare.
